A recruiter reached out to me and saw potential in my profile despite my coming from a different background. I took the opportunity, embraced the challenge, and quickly discovered how dynamic and exciting the aviation industry is.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What does a Retail Specialist do, in your own words?<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>A Retail Specialist helps create the onboard commercial strategy, from selecting products and developing menus to\u00a0analysing\u00a0sales performance,\u00a0optimising\u00a0pricing\u00a0and working closely with suppliers to improve the passenger experience and business results.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What does a typical week look like for you?<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>No two weeks are ever the same. My days usually involve supplier meetings, product and trend research, sales analysis, menu planning, commercial strategy discussions, and a lot of cross-functional collaboration across different markets and teams\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The craft<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What trends have influenced the latest range change?<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>There is a strong shift towards clear and simple value propositions. Customers\u00a0prioritise\u00a0practical options, while still looking for differentiation through perceived quality,\u00a0brand\u00a0or experience. Products linked to defined consumption moments, such as coffee breaks, indulgence or on-the-go snacks, are also gaining relevance.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What changes in customer\u00a0behaviour\u00a0are influencing your decisions this season?<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>Customers are making increasingly rational purchasing decisions, especially in price-sensitive markets. They look to\u00a0maximise\u00a0value, driving higher conversion in structured offers such as combos and in well-known products that build trust.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How do you balance current trends with long-term demand?<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>We work with a strong core assortment that ensures rotation and volume, complemented by new launches or limited editions that allow us to test trends without compromising overall performance.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What type of feedback has recently influenced your\u00a0range\u00a0decisions?<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>Sales analysis (SPH,\u00a0conversion\u00a0and category mix), combined with direct feedback from operations, is key to making fast portfolio adjustments and\u00a0prioritising\u00a0high-rotation products.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Working at Altura<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A project\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0stuck with you?<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>The launch of\u00a0JetSMART\u00a0Colombia. It was incredibly exciting to work closely with teams and departments I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0usually collaborate with day to day. Being part of building and launching a new account from the ground up was\u00a0a very rewarding\u00a0experience.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What\u2019s\u00a0the best part about working at Altura?<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>Definitely the\u00a0people. I love getting to know colleagues and partners from\u00a0different cultures, working together as a\u00a0team\u00a0and learning from different perspectives. Altura is also a very dynamic company that is always open to\u00a0new ideas\u00a0and new ways of doing things.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the things I value most is how approachable everyone is \u2014 communication flows easily across teams, and there is a genuinely positive and collaborative working environment. I also really value the opportunity to travel and be part of such a fast-paced, evolving industry.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Off the clock<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What are\u00a0you into\u00a0outside of work?<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>Right now,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0very\u00a0family-focused. I have a six-month-old baby and a five-year-old daughter, so I do my best to balance work while still being a present and engaged mum for my children.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>One piece of advice for someone starting out in aviation?<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>Don\u2019t\u00a0be afraid to jump in.
